Paleo-Indians came to the Sedona area more than 15,000 years ago.   Nearby you will find ancient cliff dwellings and ruins occupied by the Sinagua people between A.D. 1100 and A.D. 1300.   The largest cliff dwellings in the area have been cited as world class by archeologists!   If that doesn't get you archaeological interests peaked... how about pictographs?   Carvings on rocks in place are called petroglyphs and drawings on these same surfaces are called pictoglyphs!   This ancient "rock art?   Is common to eastern Utah, the Grand Canyon, the Canyon de Chelly and the Sedona area but is rare elsewhere.   Young and old alike will find these unique ancient sites both educational and interesting!
